On June 22, ClickUp launched Brain, a fundamental reimagining of its AI platform. This is not an incremental update. Brain replaces standalone AI subscriptions across writing, research, coding, design, and analysis with a single platform that connects to every frontier model and your entire workspace.
The headline feature is automatic model routing. Brain selects the best model for each task: Claude for deep reasoning and writing, GPT for fast generation and large workflow execution, Gemini for multimodal. Users never choose manually. They just ask, and Brain picks the right engine. Power users can override and pick their preferred model at any point.
Multiplayer by default
Most AI tools are built for one person at a time. Brain is multiplayer. When a product manager builds a launch plan, Brain already knows marketing's campaign timeline, engineering's sprint commitments, and sales' pipeline targets. The plan accounts for all of it without a single sync meeting. Background agents spin up automatically to keep work moving across the org, even when you log off.
The context engine is the key differentiator. Every surface in ClickUp (tasks, docs, chat, sheets, meetings, whiteboards, dashboards) flows into a single graph that Brain queries in real time. It knows who owns what, what is stuck, what was said in chat yesterday, and which OKRs it all ladders up to.
Brain costs the same as existing ClickUp AI plans, but now includes access to every frontier model. For teams paying separate ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini subscriptions, this can cut AI spend significantly.
Memory and MCP
Brain remembers preferences, writing style, and project context across conversations. It also supports importing memory from ChatGPT and other AI tools, so it never starts from scratch. The MCP (Model Context Protocol) support connects Google Drive, GitHub, Salesforce, Datadog, Gmail, and any other MCP-compatible service. Your workspace becomes the single source of truth.
